About

Soha is Regional Director – North at CRY (Child Rights and You), one of India's most respected NGOs working for children's rights. With over 25 years at CRY — having joined in 1997 — she is among the organisation's most senior leaders and a consistent voice on child rights, gender equity, and civic participation in India. Soha holds a postgraduate degree in Social Work from M.S. University, Vadodara. She began her career at CRY working with the Youth Division in Delhi, then moved to the Development Support Division, before gaining deep grassroots experience and eventually anchoring the Volunteer Action Division. Today, as Regional Director – North, she leads CRY's work across northern India, overseeing programmes that work with communities, build awareness, and strengthen agency ensuring children do not remain invisible to the systems meant to serve them. Earlier in her career, she worked with Nirantar, a feminist resource centre focused on education and gender, where she recognised that gender norms must be tackled from childhood itself, an insight that has shaped her approach to child rights ever since. Soha chairs the sexual harassment committees at CRY and has been a vocal advocate for public participation as a fundamental lever for social change. She has written for YourStory on youth volunteerism and child labour, and has spoken on The EmpowHER Journal Podcast about the real stories behind CRY's work across India. Her perspective is grounded in decades of fieldwork, community engagement, and institutional leadership and she speaks with rare authority on the lived reality of children's rights in India, the role of civil society and volunteers, and what systemic change for the most marginalised actually takes.
