Dr. Swati Piramal has used her background in medicine, public health, and business to change the trajectory of healthcare, education, and public policy in India. She is one of India’s leading scientists and industrialists in public health and innovation. Born on March 28th, 1956 Dr. Piramal earned her medical degree from Mumbai University. Dr Piramal is an alumnus of the Harvard School of Public Health.

She is the Director of Piramal Enterprises, a leading Indian multinational company in Healthcare, Financial Services, and Information Management. As Director of the Piramal Foundation, she helps promote health in rural India with mobile health services, women’s empowerment projects, and supporting community education that creates young leaders. As the first woman president of India’s Apex Chamber of Commerce in 90 years, she helped influence important public policies and governance. She served as an adviser to the Indian Prime Minister in science, technology, and economic policy, (2006-2014).
